Its not about her fans making excuses for her. It is about how there was no chance in hell for her to make team usa and her taking the opportunity somewhere else.
FIBA rules allow it and most people are fine with the decision.
But I find it amazing how some of the most critical of Hammons decision are hoping Nolan or Miller beat her for the spot... wth is that about? If you are pissed about an American playing for Russia lets not forget they are American too. But its not a two way street with some people.

And also... most people outside of WNBA fans didnt even know who the hell Becky Hammon was, and most still dont. So its not like she is America's sweetheart to begin with.
I asked a sports writer in Miami what he thought about the situation and he said "Becky who?" So even though its been on yahoo, cnn, espn, it is still womens basketball and even though some of us eat, sleep, and breathe it, most of the world is clueless.

If you are pissed about an American playing for Russia lets not forget they are American too. But its not a two way street with some people. Did I say I was critical of Becky because she was an American? No, in fact, I said she was well within her rights to play for Russia. I was critical of how she has handled this mess, how she went to the media crying foul about how she was passed over for the Olympic team. I was also critical of her thingyiness that she already has the spot sewn up on the Russian team. The fact remains that before last year, Becky Hammon was a fan favorite, but she was not considered one of the best players. She was named second team All-WNBA in 2005 before last year's first team selection. Otherwise, she was just one of the decent players in the WNBA. So, why should she be able to command a spot on the olympic team automatically? By her own admission, she was invited to try-out, but opted not to play. sports.espn.go.com/oly/news/story?id=3427182so, I think she can take her poor Becky show on the road and you can go back to Hammonite nation.

LMFAO!!!
Back to Hammonite Nation.... alrighty then.
I never even referred to your post... as you will see I didnt quote anyone. I was referring to people in general who somehow in their head have made it OK for miller or nolan but hate that hammon is doing it.
I was also referring to people who were happy as hell to see Hakeem play for the Dream Team but yet have an issue with Hammon playing for Russia.
Not once did I call you out on anything that you wrote. IF I would have wanted to, trust me, I would have quoted you.
