Okay....here is my thought...I think we need to go get Katie Smith...I think we were a LEGIT all around PG from challenging for a title.
We have great wings and with the addition of the European chic, if we drop Snow (if that is what that means) and keep DeSouza along with whom we had....that would be tremendous.
Honestly....I almost would say drop Lehning or Armentie for Katie Smith....and go after someone in the draft like Monica Wright from Virginia who is a fierce defender, can play the point and light it up from anywhere outside the arc or off the bounce....SOMETHING NEITHER LATTA NOR LEHNING CAN DO......nor Armentie.

If de Souza will sign for a reasonable amount of money, we can probably get someone decent at PG. However, if some other team wants de Souza - and I'm sure that someone will make an offer that forces the Dream to counter - we're just not going to be able to sign a Katie Smith.
Latta is a small 2. Lehning is a non-scoring 1. What we need is a scoring 1.

She was always a scoring point guard in HS and at UNC and Meadors knows that. For her to say first that Ivory is a small PG and then say in the next sentence that Ivory is really a 2 guard in a 1 guard body makes no sense. It is one of the most inconsistent statements that she's ever made about Ivory and it's not factual. Anyone who has followed wcbb knows that Ivory was a scoring PG who led her team to two consecutive final fours. She says she's looking for a PG who can shoot the three yet she's got one that she buried on the bench. I just don't understand MM.

I love Latta but I will even admit we need a bigger PG who can take some contact and who can score BUT BE A LOCK DOWN DEFENDER.
We have yet to have that in Atlanta....Katie Smith is that PG....and so is Monica Wright.
And for the money....I like what Monica Wright could do for us. Even a Danielle Robinson for Oklahoma.

I don't think Wright will be available when we pick.

After reading the article, I came away totally confused. Is mm trying to set the stage for a Latta trade? If so, she is assuming that no-one has watched any of games played by The Dream for the last 2 years. That no-one watched any of the Tarheels games that Ivory played in (and if you were a womens basketball fan, that was highly unlikely), and that no-one payed any attention to the media coverage that she got in college, which is a lot more than since she came to the W.
The only other reason I can see, is that she's just out to derail Ivory's career for personal or professional reasons. Pick one.
In the interview, mm stated that The Dream is a fast-breaking team. She is making no sense, in that she insists on starting Shalee, and Shalee is NOT a fast-break player. She is more of an "eat the clock, set up the shot, find the open man (woman in this case) with the best chance type of player. The two styles cannot be mixed into one. Therefore Ivory should be starting, and Shalee should be coming off the bench situationally. Fast-break players tire more quickly, so leads can be held by slowing the game with bench players. And as the article said, Shalee is among the best AT WHAT SHE DOES. What she does not do is play fast-break basketball. But there is a PLACE for her on the team.
Am I wrong? If so, please say so. This is jmo. I am definitely open to criticism.

Ivory is one of my favorite players on the squad...I'd rather see her traded and set up for success by a coach knows her strengths and how to use them than to see her career cut short by MM.

I am not saying that Ivory shouldn't be traded. I have loved watching her play since her days at NC. Much as I would hate to see her go, I would like for her to go somewhere, where her talents and strengths would be used correctly. My point was, that mm seems to be trying to pawn her off as a 2 guard, and attempting to set her up for failure.
