we out rebounded them 40 to 28.... got twice as many free throws.... twice as many turnovers.... and we still just barely beat them.... they lost because of a variety of reasons... the biggest of which is that they shot themselves in the foot... they gave us the game in the end.... it was anyone's game in the closing minute.... regardless of the beating they took on the boards....

I think we are forgetting that this is basketball and refs are going to be refs...NONE of them are perfect. In game one of Washington we we killed with foul trouble...YES, it sucks but we found a way to win (regardless is Washington was not playing their best, we still tried to play). Also NYC did not complain when the refs missed 2 obvious fouls at the end of the game for Catchings so they can just get over it! Just as Catchings stated...you cant depend on the refs to bail you out so you should always try to finish. We may have gotten some calls for us but they got some as well (it doesnt matter how many they received, they received some!).
Yeah we killed them in free throws and Angel led the way. This is not the first time Angel has had plenty of free throws...come on. If her shot is not falling she drives...she changes up her shot in the air to create the foul...EVERYONE knows that, they just cant resist trying to block it or stand still...so YES IT IS A FOUL! I dont think that is bad playing, I think that is smart. You know your team is depending on you for points...get them how you can. They all do it (Cappie, Catchings, DT...etc), they just do not go into shooting slumps as often as Angel do.
Yes with us out rebounding them and shooting more free throws we still BARELY beat them...lets remember this tho...Angel and Izzi shot almost the worst they shot ALL year...Izzi with only 6 points? WOW...you can best believe that she is going to be hungry. Just like we have to worry about the WHOLE NYC team showing up...NYC has to worry about the WHOLE showing up...
Its anyone game, it just depends on whose shows up...In my opinion, they coming into our house...so game is in our corner because Izzi has her hot spots...Angel has found her hot spots, and Miller should be better for her short jump shots...with us shooting better (hopefully) that opens up the middle and also lets not forget, we didnt run as much as we wanted to...so thats still a weapon we can use.
If NYC thinks they are going to try and slow down our rebounding...they ar only going to hurt themselves...by sending more people down low to rebound opens up back court for our fast break game...so pick your poison...out rebound or fast break...either way we have the ball!

even tho i'm a dream fan... i see things as they are.... and my views are never colored by who i'm a fan of.... cappie drives to the hoop constantly also.... and by chance should get just as many calls as angel.... i'm not arguing with most of what you said.... i never did... my point was to the post that said that ny didn't have any reason to complain.... when the ft disparity is that huge.... there is always reason to complain... i believe that i also said that regardless of the calling ny ultimately beat themselves.... they had a chance to win it and they imploded....
but truth is truth... and cappie did get slapped in the face by angel in that last play... explain it away and rationalize it anyway you want... it happened.... cappie felt she should have gotten that call... because she DID get fouled.... i'm not talking about any "refs will be refs" of what happened games ago... the only things i was addressing was the idea that we beat them because we beat them on the boards... if that was the fact it wouldn't have been anyones game in the last minute... and the idea that ny didn't have a valid complaint regardless of the reason.... our rebounding kept us in the game... but it wasn't the reason we won.... jmo
and btw... ny's problem is our offensive rebounding... if they send more people to the boards on the defensive end that clogs the lane... limiting angels chances... and izi's... and our outside shooting sucks.... we lost last year because our opponent clogged the lane and dared us to shoot from outside....

Its funny how things play out...We won this game bc of heart...it also helped that our outside shooting was good (not suck)! When we have Miller, Castro, and Angel on the wing...u have to guard us bc they are shooting well (in the playoffs the 1st nyc game was the only off shooting game). And yes, they clogged the middle and Angel still drove. Its also funny how many times Angel went to the Free throw line again...so are they going to blame it on that... Great job DREAM!!! Keep it up!

I'm tired of all the complaining from the New York crowd, there were bad calls both ways. They are only complaining because they lost. NY fans of virtually anything always complain.

Well, Congratulations!! to the ATLANTA DREAM!! I could only catch the 2nd half of the game online. I may re-watch the game tonight, but let's face it: Coco Miller brings an added dimension to the Atlanta offense. Though I still like Shalee, and I think Shalee needs to take the open shot when it's available, I think Coco's play is "confusing" the opposition. The opposition can't clog the inside because Coco will shoot. With that fact, Angel will always find a seam in a team's defense. If Shalee shoots more, then other teams will have defensive difficulties. The other part is Izi. Her perimeter shooting is sooooo key. If she's on, like she was all of last year, then Atlanta will have a championship. With all that being said, SEATTLE is a different animal. The one thing they have over Atlanta is experience at every position. But Atlanta have a tremendous heart and great speed on their side. To me, throughout these playoffs, Atlanta seems like the only team that plays like they want to win a championship.

Yeah Im finding that NYC fans complain alot as well...As far as making Shalee shoot more...NO!!! People dont play off of shalee because she doesnt shoot, they play off of Shalee bc she CANT shoot. I am sorry, I know alot of people like her but if Kelly gets better enough to play SOME minutes (like 10 good minutes), I wouldnt even play Shalee. Just as you stated...when Shalee is in the clog the middle and play off of her (usually leaving Angel to be double team), that doesnt help the team. Not to mention that Shalee has NO defense and teams no that and kill us on that. She does make a good play every now and then but coco and kelly can do that. I just trying to be honest, this is the championship game and Seattle is no joke...if Kelly can play, we need Shalee and Raven on the bench (if one has to go in because of foul trouble, I choose Raven...she hustles, plays defense and can shoot).
I am a ATL fan and love the TEAM...please dont be mad because I dont Shalees purpose...Ive been trying all year to find it and cant seem to...sorry.
With that being said....LETS GO DREAM! We can beat Seattle, I know we can!
