Yeah, you're right. They didn't look great in this one. But I posted that before the game lol. Still been impressed with them overall.

The Dream take on the NY Liberty tonight for the first game of a home-and-home. We have struggled against the Liberty in the regular season, but we did upset them in the 2010 Eastern Conference Finals. They are revamped this year with the addition of a few old faces from the Motor City.
I want to look for us to really continue what we have been doing well, which is forcing turnovers and running on the break. We are 3-0 because of this, so if we can do this again tonight, I think we can be 4-0.

I just realized that Jasmine Thomas' 8.7 ppg, 3.3 rpg, and 4.3 apg aren't much of a drop-off from what former All-Star Lindsey Harding averaged for us last year (12.3 ppg, 2.8 rpg, and 4.5 apg). The scoring is down three points, but if Tiffany Hayes continues to score like she has been, that can be made up for. Rebounding is actually up for Thomas from what Harding averaged, and assists are slightly down.
Also, Alex Bentley has 11 assists on the season and no turnovers!
To all the doubters that said we lost so much when Harding signed with LA: we have two very good, young PGs here right now with more time to develop. Oh, and we're 3-0, which is better than the Sparks can say.

Great win!!! I liked how we held off their third quarter run. I am liking the chemistry on this team so far. Credit to Coach Fred for that.

The Dream have a game against a conference rival this afternoon in a rematch of their 2010 Eastern Conference semi finals series.
Two players to watch on the Mystics are: former Dream point guard Ivory Latta and the rookie who was left out of the 3 To See, Tayler Hill.
Latta had an excellent performance in the Mystics' opener, and we'll see if she continues that. Hill had a disappointing opener, but I would like to see how she does after one game of WNBA experience under her belt.
For the ATLANTA DREAM!!!, Armintie is back in the probable starters, so I am assuming whatever sickness she had has gotten better. I would like to see how Jasmine Thomas plays against her former teammates. Sometimes players have great games against their former teams, because they played against them in practice every day.
I am hoping we don't have a letdown game against a predicted bottom-dweller after that terrific win against defending champion Indiana. We have played well against Washington recently, sweeping last year's regular season series, so I am hoping the success can continue.
What do you guys think of this one? Let's get the chatting going! #RWTD!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, Thomas isn't a rookie, so that's probably why no rookie jitters. I agree that she and Bentley looked very good.
Erika needs to understand that she is our number three option offensively, and she probably gets the third most touches on the team. She has a good on-court attitude, so I'm sure she'll be fine though.

The Dream have waived Ketia and Blanche.
I basically understand this, because Alex Bentley played terrifically in her second preseason game, Sydney Carter played well, and we weren't going to trade our first round pick for a player we would waive a month later.
A point guard cut was looming (with four on the roster), so no real surprise there. Ketia didn't play poorly in the preseason, she just didn't do anything good. Yes, Jaye, she did have a +11 on her +/- in the first game, but that's just because she ran the point while her teammates built a lead. Not saying that's bad, it's just nothing good.
As for Blanche, out of the four rookies, like I said Bentley played really well. Clements has been our leading scorer in the games. Anne Marie Armstrong was an actual draft pick, so I think Coach Fred is more hesitant to cut her.
Both these moves make sense to me. Just wondering if anyone else had any particular opinions on it.

Lol Tulsa could've used a game changer, because they have none on their team now that Cambage and Latta are gone. We'll see if Wiggins can make the most out of more PT than she was getting in Minnesota.

I mean, we did fine with Lehning for years, so I think you're on to something about not needing a scoring PG. And didn't notice her +/-. That's pretty impressive.

Well she certainly didn't play like one today judging from her stat line today. But hey, it was her first pro game... You think she was the best option once Griner and Della Donne had been picked?

Yeah, you're probably right. Only reason I had doubts was because she was always seeming so happy.... Are you leaning towards Bentley, Thomas, Carter, or Swanier? From the starting lineup today, it looks like Coach Fred's first choice was Swanier, but none of the four of them played well at all...

First preseason game of the year!!! I know I'm hyped!
Since WNBA LiveAccess isn't up for the preseason (or at least not yet), does anyone know if there is anywhere to watch this one?
Go Dream! Very excited for the rookies' debuts!

Are you sure she didn't want to resign or did management not want her back? She always seemed so happy here.

Now that Lindsey is gone (why didn't the Dream re-sign her???), what are we going to do at point guard? Out of the three PGs we have now - Swanier, Thomas, and Carter, I think Swanier is the most suited to start. I am worried, though, because Lindsey was basically the Robin to Angel/Batman.

Since the Olympic Opening Ceremony is today, I thought it the right time to post this. Former Atlanta Dream guard Iziane Castro-Marques was released from the Brazilian National Team after an off-court infraction. It must've been pretty serious, because she had scored 21 points in her most recent game with them. Also, Brazil will have to play with just 11 players, because they had already submitted their final roster and could only change it if there was an injury. I don't remember any incidents of any sort with her when she was on the Dream, so this was a bit of a shock to me. I wish her luck! What does everyone else think?
