Shavonte Zellous had a great rookie year last year. It is hard for me to understand why Tulsa would give her up for a 2nd round pick. There were only about 4 second rounders that made it on a roster this year. Atlanta's first round pick didn't make the roster.
This reminds me of some of the trades the Dream have made. How could you give away a legitimate player and keep Marion Jones who has been out of basketball for several years.
Any insights?

zellous not fitting into his plan...good trade for a 2nd round draft especially if one pops up..i know there is only one mia moore but richardson is building and making his own team..marion has special qualities he sees in composing the great 2011 threat..if he succeeds, he will wheel and deal to accomplish this great feat....he is a smart man/coach and i believe once he gets that near "perfect" contender, he won't be irrational like mnm and blow it....although the dream is terrific, coach ross gets well over half of the credit from my perspective...

Yes, Richardson is a smart guy. But I just can't see why he would keep MJ over Zellous. Averaging .4 per game (that's 1 hoop in 5 games) isn't much in the way of contribution. It must be her attitude he likes. A second round pick seems to be the standard for a trade in the W right now, for a really good player. Note that's what Chi got for Toliver. Not much in the way of "respect" since a second rounder is, in most cases, a throw-away.

Zellous scored 23 points tonight in an Indiana victory over the Liberty. I don't think the Shock is good enough to have given up on her so soon.

Looks like Tulsa is waking up.
They have cut two players and added none other than Jennifer Lacy and Keisha Brown.

nolan has no idea what he's doing.... he's still treating players as if they were kids in college.... and expecting them to bow to his greatness.... he's got pierson on the bench.... jones on the team... and trading zellous was just moronic.... and richardson has a history of "irrational" behavior..... as to his perfect plan for 2011.... if they don't get some a**es in those seats soon... there won't be any 2011....

did you say Pierson? she's pretty good, right? coming off the bench or starting.
The New York Liberty traded Tiffany Jackson to the Tulsa Shock in exchange for Plenette Pierson.
Looking for offense, Tulsa? I wouldn't give up Pierson for Jackson.
I thought something was up when Pierson got a "DNP - Coach's Decision" in their last loss, unless she was injured. Somewhere in an article I think she said she was having difficulty adjusting to the Shock's new offense.
