Just did it - sorry about that! I was so excited when I started typing that I didn't want to slow down and think...
Bought my plane tickets last night so I am officially headed to ATL next Thursday!!!!!! I am marveling at the journeys Shalee Lehning has taken us on since she was in high school. This next journey is without any doubt more than I ever expected and it would take a small army to keep me away. I know most of you don't think a lot of Shalee and you can think and say what you please, but there is a small, small town in the middle of nowhere in southwest Kansas where no one has anything bad to say about her and where she'll always be a role model and hero. We've all watched her work her tail off since she was very young in order to be where she is and to see her experience her "Dream" is something we are all proud of. The odds against her were absolutely overwhelming, but here she is, not caring if she starts or plays a supporting role, but enjoying every minute of being a part of this team.

Nothing personal against Shalee...she has her place on the team like all of the rest of the ladies.. they all are human and make mistakes and definitely they all are professionals.... I love the dream... Shalee has one of the most positive attitudes I have seen anywhere...Brittany, Shalee and the rest of the team that haven't started lately are all winners...I just always felt that Shalee was not starting material (and nothing has changed)... It takes all kind to make a team great or a great team...It takes all kind of ingredients to make a super salad... The Dream has everything it takes to bring home the gold, I mean I feel we can and will beat Seattle... All of my ladies of the Atlanta Dream will play a significant role in this achievement where and when ever; even however we complete our 2010 season. Coach Ross has done an excellent job rearranging the team to the effect of our success thus far....If mnm just keeps up her role of accepting the congrats, coach cr will keep us in the winning circle... Shalee is special and I will reiterate she contributes to a well designed recent plan of strategy...she comes off the bench; plays minimal minutes with good, positive input; she is a force to be reckoned with, as she cheers the team on while on the bench....she is a positive person and this is great..
Just to end my comment with 3 major points:
1) Shalee is an athlete with a supporting role...she affects the team on and off the court be- cause she has such a positive attitude and she is infectious with that wonderful attitude.
2) Everynight MNM goes home and receives congratulations about this super duper Dream team.
3) Everynight CR goes home and receives offers, after offers after offers to come on and coach (head coach) elsewhere, wherein she can openly receive the recognition she deserves and has earned for the last 2 seasons..... ***Woo hoo I'm back***
GO DREAM........GO DREAM........I BELIEVE....tonyt

I dont think I have EVER heard Shalees role being explained as well as you just did "Tonyt!" Way to keep it positive but real...not really a Shalee fan BUT after reading your post I have realized that she does bring positive energy to the team. Her and Raven both do...and when a team can be positive, they play their best game. I am though, very pleased with the line-up change...and when Kelly comes back, thats double trouble!
Funny about MNM just collecting congrats....its so true BUT I am not complaining...she can take as much credit as she needs as long as she does something to keep Coach Ross (we need her to stay).
With this new lineup we have become a team that plays both ends of the floor pretty well. With good strong defense and our power house offense, I think Seattle is in for a rude awakening! LETS GO DREAM!

shaleefan,
I don't know Shalee, her family, or her friends, but I am so proud that she plays for my team....I have been a fan of the Dream since their first year. I couldn't wait for Ivory Latta's first year in the pros. Unfortunately, as promising as the team looked on paper, they just couldn't get it done. (4-30) Most posters on this board blamed Meadors(coach and general manager)...I was thrilled when Angel and Shalee were drafted. Anyone who follows women's basketball knows what these two players have done for their college teams. Right away it became painfully apparent that Shalee was not going to be received as openly by some of the posters on this site as Angel. I figured with time they would grow to appreciate everything she is, and let go of their resentment. To my disbelief and horror, even after being the starting pg and helping to lead this team to a historical turnaround (18-16) the detractors continued to rear their ugly heads, and the nay sayers continued their ugly banter towards Meadors, while the league was honoring her for such a historical turnaround. Then just as playoffs began...Lehning goes out with a near career ending injury and the Dream goes 0-2 in the playoffs. Here we are this year, Lehning fights back after not being able to play or condition during the off-season like most everyone else...Her ft's are affected, her shot is affected, and the coaches certainly weren't in a hurry for her to "crash" the boards, and still she manages to help the Dream to another winning season, back to back playoff sweeps, and possibly the WNBA title. And still the negativity continues....Let's see she is #2 in the WNBA in assists, #3in the WNBA A/To ratio, she does have one of the better 3pt % on the team...and let's not forget the DEFENSE.....during the playoffs one of the top 3 defensive rebounders on the team, second to taking the charge behind Lyttle, second in steals. She also leads the team in assists per game and that is with coco playing twice as many minutes...let's not forget that in the second Mystics game coco started and Lehning subbed in at the end of the first, we were down 6. At the end of the 2nd we were up 24...which brings me to plus and minus...Lehning is third on the team in that department. I know Jaye will say we must be manipulating the stats, and a few others will say she deservers "her place". How magnanimous. The bottom line is she has been the starting PG for two seasons. Say her play is meaningless, and I will point out that your team is 37-31 with her at the point, and 4-30 without her. She is also undefeated in the playoffs....jmo....So shaleefan you go girl you cheer and be proud. I will be cheering with you from the west coast...Lets Go Dream!!!!!

kindly make your convoluted point without using my name... thank you... i haven't said a word to you... or about you... kindly extend me the same courtesy.... there are two posts directly before yours that criticise shalee and her starting position... neither post is mine.... i would appreciate it if you wouldn't target me.... but if that's where you want to go.... believe me... i have no problem reciprocating....

Wow Jaye, at least you don't dissapoint. Collected a cool $50 thanx. Totally expected response. I won the bet! I guess if the shoe fits.... I was only referring to a post you had made in the past regarding how people who disagreed with your opinion must be manipulating the stats in order to defend Lehning"s affect on the team's performance. You are not the only one with an opinion...everyone has one...i am sure you know how the saying goes.... by the way you couldn't even give Lehning a compliment for the late steal off McWilliams Franklin...you pointed out instead how tired Franklin must be, and how she had no business being in the game. I believe you said "they gave it away"..well I am pretty sure Lehnining was dog tired at that point in the game also...way to support your team.......I guess the glass is always half empty with you.....and love or hate Meadors....her team is experiencing success...it doesn't go one way....if she gets the blame for the failure, she gets the credit for the success...but most of you "fans" on this board...like to think this team is successful "despite" Meadors and Lehning....I'll say it again Dream 4-30 without 37-31 with......0-2 playoffs without....4-0 back to back sweeps with......Lehning is just as much a part of this team as any other player just look at the minutes......jmo

Wow, Are you for real....There have been a few posters on this board who have repeatedly felt they needed to bash their own PG. You can go back on this board and read for hours. When people disagree with you guys, one or all of you defend your opinion....you have gone so far as to say her fans were manipulating the stats...you said that....I posted some stats, and figured you and a couple of other posters would deny and defend. just like in the past. you have no real reason to be soooo defensived i merely stated the truth which you posted..i said Jaye will probably say I am just manipulating the stats...why so much hatred...did you say that, or not....and it is just your opinion....wow, how dare anyone support their team on here, if it ruffles the feathers of a "fan"........Dont post to you...I responded to shaleefan...your name came up becuase I quoted you...wow..I understand why many fans that used to post here post privately or on other boards...have a nice day....

and just to set the record straight Jaye...you have said a word to me, and posted to me....I have made 8 comments on this board in 2 seasons....everytime you have had something to say to me about it....I am a positive person and try to support ALL of the players on my team...but anytime I want to say something about Meadors or Lehning.....I get attacked. I disagree with alot of Meadors decision making, but she is the Head Coach and the GM...she obviously has done a few things right! And it get really tuff to listen to posters say how they "try" to like Lehning on the one hand, and then on the other hand try to act as if there opinions are objective....many people on this board like the miller twins...that's great...but neither has done much in 9 years as a PG.....and many posters said they wished we had almost any other rookie gaurd then Lehning...go check the stats for sophomore gaurds...Lehning can compete accross the board with any of them......it's just frustrating to see a board that is supposed to be for fans of the dream...yet only Lehning and Meadors detractors seem welcome.......Again, dont understand your anger..was not a personal attack...just stating that I would probably get treated like four or five of the other people who have tried to show support for Lehning...unfortunately, i was right...

I think this thread should end on a more positive note. Great day and victory for the Dream, even the Hawks were impressed! Lol, and maybe a little jealous!
