LMAO - You got to love it. I haven't even got past page 2 of this thread of this blog and I had to comment. Pusser and Jaye - LOL LOL OK. let just start off with Lehning (sorry if I upset a few of you all). I'm a STH that have great seats and know a lil about the game and have played. Lehning 1 quality that is seperating her from Ivory is her ballhandling skills are pretty sound - BUT she knows how to throw it away also. Let me say this - and I have been saying it EVERY GAME. She CANNOT and Let me repeat myself CANNOT play a d**n worth of defense. She could not defend a pick if her life depended on it. The ONLY reason they didn't get burned to bad by Bird and company is because the bigs were doing a HELL of a job on switching off (that is picking up her d**n man). Did you see all the mix matches. Did you guys also notice the first half all Lehning did was bring the ball up and then pass it off to mique and never really got involved - just camped on the side. Mique ran the d**n show. Now let me get to MN stupid ass coaching when we are in the LAST 5 mins of the game. Any good coach knows a good team (nuts any team) that is behind is going to try and make a run. Why in the HELL is MIQUE sitting on the bench (this has happen the last two games which have been close). Like I said last time. Mique NEEDS TO BE ON THE FLOOR. She knows what to do, how to do it and how to settle and guide her team. Her shots may not be falling but she knows how to get the ball where it needs to be and is a GREAT presence on the floor.

trueblue and tichayo, it's about winning and losing....the Dream wins under Lehning....they lost last year under Latta....make of it what you will..... They lost last year under Latta? I really take exception to that comment. I'm calling you out on it. Are you saying that we would have won last year with Shalee? I think NOT. There was no Lyttle, Angel or Holdsclaw last year. You need a few finishers and HEALTHY post players (DeSouza was injurred last season). The Dream did not have all of these All-Stars last season. I have no problem with you being a Shalee fan but I do have a problem with the slanderous comments about the Dream losing last year under Latta. Do your research and know exactly what transpired last season. The Dream did not have all of the pieces that they needed last year - no real post presence. We have a team of All-Stars this year and I'm not talking about Shalee. Just curious, if Shalee is the "answer" WHY was Latta re-signed? Now I see why you rub some of the posters the wrong way. You really should be more thoughtful in some of your comments.

I love it. I run to my computer to see the posting after the games. This team is FIRE. All I can say to you all who don't get to got to the games you are missing out. Can I just say after someone work with Angel on those little things she need to correct or polish up on this girl will be unstoppable. She is a beast. She play some great def, she can get to the rim and is quick and Lighting: (shot selection, court vision are some of her weak points). Lets jst say this- she doesn't back down from NO ONE. The reason Swin wasn't a factor is Angel had her clamped down. Didn't you guys see how many time she TOOK it from Swin. I don't know what was the problem with MN and Ivory. I can say this she was having a good game when she got pulled out. She and Arminite was doing the thing on defense. I still say MN is still licking her womb because she had to bring her back. We are play off bound and this is when coaching is REALLY needed. But guess what you guys: I sit behind the bench and guess who is doing a LOT of coaching when she is on the bench and on the floor MIQUE GOOOOOOO DREAM

lattafan, your name gives you away. No matter what you say, Latta played a lot last year and scored a lot....and they were LOSERS!!!! Shalee's effect has been.....they're winners. Maybe protecting the ball, getting into sets, passing to scorers, hustling after loose balls, etc., doesn't mean much to you, but it does to coaches. With Shalee playing, the game is under control and the Dream is winning. Simple as that. As was posted on the ajc.com site, folks would benefit from this statistical comparison of Lehning versus other rookie point guards. rethinkbball.blogspot.com/2009/08/revisiting-rookie-point-guards-how-does.html

I was hoping to come home and log on to the board tonight and see comments about everyone being fired up that we are frickin #2 in the East and we just BEAT the #2 team in the West... HUGE!!!!! I, for one, am thrilled for the Dream and the fans that have been sitting in the same seats, game after game from day one, cheering and supporting.... win or lose and loving every minute of it!!!
Forget this whole Latta vs Lehning silliness... who cares!?!?!? We are WINNING with BOTH of them!!! I can hardly wait to see what Price can do, also, and hope she gets more playing time soon. I think Lehning has been and will continue to be a great asset to this team (as does everyone I know who sits in my section at the games)... the same goes for Latta, and every other player for that matter! We are lucky to have all these talented players and I love watching Angel get better and better as she adjusts to the pro game... she is going to be great! Mique is definitely a factor on and off the court... a leader and a coach to all the players. She ROCKS!! It takes a TEAM, not just one player to be champions and that is where we are headed! Come on people!!!! We are are going to the playoffs!!! Can I get a Wooohoo!??!?!? :-)

Pusser - you are just running your mouth to hear yourself talk (typing on the keyboard to hear yourself type). Please Please Please don't even try to compare last year's team to this year. NOTHING about last year should be really used to measure anything. Different group of players. I don't even try to compare Ivory last year stats because after the guard and off guard play the Dream didn't have NOTHING. So the guards were the best thing the team had. The game is under control because of a veteran name Chamique Holdsclaw. Look at the game tonight and see what was happening when Shalee had to REALLY run the point (when mique) was on the bench. That is when the runs occured. Now I'm not an Ivory Fan but tonight she should have played more. They have two different style of play. Shalee slows the pace down and Ivory is run and gun. I think with a little work she could be right there in the mix for that starting position. I likee what she and Arminite was starting to get popping off tonight but for some reason MN pulled them both out. I looked right at Ivory and she was totally disgusted when she was pulled and she had the look of defeat on her face. I can tell you from this year and last year I have never seen that from her before. MN could kill a freakin wet dream. All I know is we need to address our guard spots. Hey everyone - throw me some names: Who would you go with (not any of the guard we have now) as a guard for our ATL Dream. Someone that can defend and run the floor (low turnover ratio)

lattafan, your name gives you away. No matter what you say, Latta played a lot last year and scored a lot....and they were LOSERS!!!! Shalee's effect has been.....they're winners. I make no apologies for being a fan of Ivory Latta. I'm a Tar Heel fan first and her jersey is retired and hanging from the rafters in Chapel Hill. BTW, you still have not answered my question: would the Dream have won last year (given last year's roster) WITH Shalee? We are all waiting for your answer... It's pretty easy to win games when you have 3 or more All-Stars on the roster, isn't it? Since you like posting links, take a look at this one: tarheelblue.cstv.com/sports/w-baskbl/mtt/latta_ivory00.html

Pusser thats a bunch of crap. How many games has Shalee pulled us out by her scoring....ZEROOOOO....how many games has Shalee led us in scoring ZEROOOOO. And in the WNBA it is about wins...and YOU DONT WIN IF YOU DONT SCORE....PLAIN AND d**n SIMPLE. Shalee is decent...but has no business playing that many minutes over Latta in tight games when Latta can distribute the ball AND be a threat from the outside. SORRY....the truth hurts. Shalee aint any dang better at defense. I don't care if Latta comes off the bench....but sitting there tonight watching Bird run circles around Lehning and her missing so many dang defensive assignments I am like....WTF??? If Coco, or Latta or Angel does that...they get yanked...it makes NO SENSE what so ever. And no one on this board can preach to me about the wins vs loses columns...I get heat every dang week from most on this board regarding Meadors...so I don't want to hear it. I have said all along I am not a fan but you can't argue with success....she made the player changes and like it or not...she probably will get coach of the year given the year we are having. lattafan, your name gives you away. No matter what you say, Latta played a lot last year and scored a lot....and they were LOSERS!!!! Shalee's effect has been.....they're winners. And you are all right...it's about wins...and how our team as a whole is doing...and I am there 100%...I have had season tix for 2 years and will renew again...but it is clear....the preferential treatment Shalee is getting over Latta and Coco is wearing on them both...and is not warrated....it is not like Shalee is playing lights out better than two veterans so you have to build confidence and show faith in ALL your players...but you know what...when we get to the play offs and the game is on the line....it won't be Shalee who is in....so I ain't gonna worry about it anymore.
ONE TEAM...ONE DREAM

Greetings All! Seemed like an easy drive home tonight - had company with me which helps a lot. We played some very good defense tonight. Bird did not have anywhere near the kind of game she often has, Jackson was shut down at times as well (and frustrated throughout the game). Seattle is a very physical team, but we banged back. Way to go Dream!
MM is an idiot. She often pulls people out when they have just done something good. I make no claim to be an expert about coaching, but even I can see how she kills the momentum that the group on the floor has got going. We have a real coach who just needs to be named officially. Even from across the arena, I can see who is really coaching (as I said earlier - Ross along with Migue) during time-outs.
I am quite sure that our record would be very different without many of the pieces we have this year - MIQUE, a healthy De Souza, Lytle, McCoughtry, and ROSS, regardless of Lenning or Latta. It is completely ridiculous to make any comparison between this year's team and last year's team. We returned only 4 players from last year - its like comparing apples and peppers. There's no way that Lenning or probably any other single player would have made a signficant difference last year. Basketball is about chemistry, give 'n go, teamwork, team defense, etc, etc. We simply did not have enough puzzle pieces to put a stong team on the floor.
As a Founding Fan, I'm a Dream fan first. At the end of last season, when De Souza returned there were glimpses of what we - as we say in the south - might could be. I've been an Ivory fan since she was in college. She plays with more heart, desire, and passion than many of the multi-year "All-Stars" that have been in the league for years. Is she perfect? No. Can she score? Yes, especially when she has enough playing time to get into the flow of the game. Is she "undersized" to be a point guard? Somewhat, but Teasley's height did not seem to help much at all in the first month of the season. Teams quickly figured out that she was very unlikely to shoot the ball, so the defense collapsed on other players. Does Ivory sometimes get ahead of herself and completely lose track of where she, her teammates, the other team, and the basket are? Yes. So did Becky Hammon in her early years in the league, but look at her now (she's also not perfect). Shalee has impressed me at times. She also plays with heart. She and Coco connected a couple of times tonight for quick points. She has been more impressive since she has actually started trying to score. A point guard who rarely shoots can really be a liability in my opinion.
I've been a fan of women's basketball at the college level for a very long time. I've seen how great players develop over time, especially when coached well. Tennessee was the first team I really followed. Pat Summit is one of the best teachers to ever coach. 10 out of the 13 teams in the league have at least one player from Tennessee on their roster. Summit's impact on Holdsclaw, Catchings, Lawson, Anioske, Hornbuckle, Parker and many other previous players is undeniable. None of these great players along with many others were great when they arrived in Knoxville.
We ned a coach who can really teach and develop our young players (6 have less than 3 years experience). Since the inception of the league, it has been a big transition from college to the WNBA. Few rookies have made it look effortless. Parker may be the biggest exception, and she had the most personal momentum any one person could have last year along with mostly veterans around her. We also need a coach who won't play mind games with any of our players. These women have worked too hard and too long to be treated like pawns or children.
Sorry for rambling on and on, still hyped up from the game and driving. I read the boards regularly, so I guess I had a lot of 2 cents worth to put in over the last 16 hours. Great game and win tonight. Go Dream!

foundingfanbham - I love reading what you have to say, so don't feel the need to apologize for rambling. I enjoy a good basketball discussion any time. Even this dedicated individual has long since tired of the Shalee v. Ivory feud and I have my suspicions that Pusser just keeps it going for his own entertainment.
I would love to see the Dream do some serious teaching with these younger players. Watching Angel tonight, I kept thinking to myself, "Wow, she is fabulously talented, but makes some of the most ridiculous mistakes sometimes." I think some good teaching could eliminate a lot of those mistakes; Angel needs to play smarter and she can be taught to do that. She has the potential to be one of the toughest players in the league but there are lots of rough edges to sand before she gets there.
Since the beginning of the season the chemistry level of the team has increased exponentially. When I was in Atlanta in June, I was very disappointed in the chemistry and felt that it really hurt the team in some close games. I love seeing teams "click" and this group is getting there. DeSouza and Lyttle really deserve lots of kudos for their hard work. They both fight through each possession and it often pays off with a rebound and put-back or steal. I wish Lyttle would try to rebound her own ball, but instead she always turns and heads back down the court before the ball even gets to the rim. I saw 2-3 of them bounce off the rim right to where she had shot from but it was the Storm's players who were ready for the board.
I hope that Sancho can use the next few days to rest and let her body heal; she had to be playing through a great deal of pain. Does anyone know for sure if she has any cracked ribs?
