I don't know how I feel about the trade but I do know we need some solid presence in the paint and I seen Bales a few times in the ACC and she did her thang...but can she get up and down the court??? She looked like she was moving kind of slow when I watched her with Indiana a few weeks back....She may be what we need inside....I pray she can help our inside game!!!

Not sure how I feel. Why didn't she get more playing time in Indiana? It's a little suspect. I did see Ali Bales a lot on television while she was playing for Duke and she was good at the college level but not sure if she can make the transition and be competitive at this level. She reminds me of Katie F in some ways. Slow and potentially not aggressive enough in the paint at the pro level. We'll see - hope I'm wrong....
It will be interesting to see Ali and Ivory on the same team (Heel and a Blue Devil) but I think once they graduate, they put rivalries behind them which is the right thing to do.
Ali, PLEASE prove me wrong. -Lattafan

i believe this was a great pick-up. alison is a big inside presence and also can shoot the three pretty well. she just needs to work on some post moves and rebounding, she also runs the floor well for a 6-7 person.

I'm not sure how great of a pickup Bales is, but getting rid of Mann was awful.
Bales can step out and shoot the three, but she doesn't play the low post as much as she did in college. I, too, wonder if she will be as slow as Feenstra (she seems to be during the times I have Indy this season).

i never really understood why mann had the following that she did.... in my estimation....she was ok..... but that was about it....i didn't think she was any different than a score of players around the league....and i didn't see anything in her that could make the difference to a team in desperation.....
bales on the other hand.....is a move at least in the right direction.... we've got a terrible need and mann was in no way an answer to that need..... we have other people that can do what mann does..... some better....
this is one of the few management decs' that i agree with.....not sure if bales is the answer..... but at this point.....it's worth a shot.....

Hopefully everyone has gotten over that and the UNC/Duke rivalry. It is sad to say goodbye to a player/teammate, but getting a person of Bales' size should help. It was so evident (despite the outcome) that lots of Houston's shot attempts were thwarted by the presence of someone as tall as Feenstra, so to have two people like that is a step in the right direction. So will Bales be in uniform then tomorrow night? I hope so so we don't have to wait until July 22 to see her play in person.

That was the first wcbb game that I watched and I've been a fan of Latta and the Tar Heels since then. That devotion to wcbb has transitioned into the wbna. I love watching all of the players develop at the next level. I hope Ali is part of the answer to what we need.

Glad to read that you made the jump to the WNBA and are a fan of both. And isn't it great that there is a "next level" in the U.S. in which you can watch the WCBB players develop (or not). Related to that I am still amazed that I can now hear players say "I grew up watching the WNBA"... ;D

I post on the college boards and I'm always amazed that more of those fans don't make the jump to the W. It is absolutely wonderful that we can watch our players here in the US at the pro level. My hope is that the wnba fan base grows. At least the commercials are getting better. I saw D. Taurasi's commercial this morning about her getting into the "zone" and it was such an improvement over the earlier commericals about what a wbb wouldn't do; definitely a step in the right marketing direction. I wanted to ask you why you had Tammy Sutton Brown's name in quotes a few posts up.

Does this trade imply that Lovelace is gone for extended period...maybe for the season for “personal reasons??”

I think it's a great trade. Mann was our least active player. When she was on the floor she barely moved, showed no hustle or did any rebounding or scoring.
I think Bales will play circles around Fennstra - Bales does not have cement feet!
Also think Bales will fit in well with the other players - here's to hoping she plays tonight!

Bales had to play behind Tammy Sutton-Brown. Ebony Hoffman has also been playing well and the Fever has like one other post player...so in part that is why Bales did not get a lot of time.

Does this trade imply that Lovelace is gone for extended period...maybe for the season for “personal reasons??” Wish we knew. Maybe we'll find out more tonight. Women's Hoops Blog hinted that Lovelace had "left the team" but who knows, that may have just been taken out of context. Also, the Game Notes for tonight make no mention of either yesterday's trade or Lovelace's absence and status.

This also means yet another player that I used to root against (mostly due to me rooting for Maryland) while they were in college joins the Dream... Bales Latta Nnamaka Strother Feenstra (Jerry Falwell Univ...er, Liberty University)
