The Atlanta Dream announced today the team has acquired guard Lindsey Harding from the Washington Mystics in a sign-and-trade deal. The Dream sent guard Kelly Miller, the team's 2011 No. 8 overall draft pick Ta'Shia Phillips and a first round pick in 2012 to the Mystics in exchange for Harding and a second round pick in 2012. "Lindsey is a proven point guard and leader on the court," said Head Coach & General Manager Marynell Meadors. "Her ability to push the tempo and be an offensive threat fits our style and will compliment what we already have. We are excited to add a player of her caliber to our team." more here www.wnba.com/dream/news/harding__2011_04_11.htmlI don't know about giving up the first round pick just yet, that's a bit much , although I do think she's a perfect fit for us.

I think this was a good move. Even though I hate to see Kelly go, we have a young quick guard that can shoot and penatrate. Time will tell.

I love the trade too. Im excited about Harding, Izi and Angel starting together thats for sure. A little curious about Price and Raven and if they are coming back.

kelly was done as a contributing factor... if you've got coco why in the world do you need kelly.... signing both of them was extremely stupid in the first place.... and sentimentality doesn't win games... this was a huge acquisition.... the dream just got loads better... barring injuries of course.... jmo

I like the acquisition of Harding. She can control the game, provide much needed assists, and penetrate. The only down side is she is no better as a 3 point shooter than we have right now. She has shot only 26% from the 3 pt. line as a pro.

jaye I was wondering what your views would be on this one. Considering what MN was doing at the point and what we had as a pg, Kelly didn't do bad. She and Coco are pretty decent bench players. We needed a good to do something at the pg slot and I'm happy with what we got. I want to see how this pans out. I'm getting excited. ljohnverrel i hope she keep Armite. I think with some work she could be much better. That girl got speed and her jumping ability is out this world but need to work on game. I'm not sure about Raven. I keep hearing all this talk about her being nice and a great cheerleader. Sorry but we got the dance team - we don't need a cheerleader.

I'm surprised by the acquisition of Harding. Now the Dream have an experienced PG who can penetrate and distribute. But I still think the Dream needs perimeter shooting, I would feel better if they got one more proven outside shooter on the team. That being said, Izi might be the biggest benefactor to Harding's arrival, moreso than Erica. This is a team that likes to transition and run. Izi should be able to get wide open looks at 3-pointers in transition. I think this is a great acquisition, though.

Dream couldn't have done better with this trade. Starting group remains intact. Phillips was not a sure thing to make the team, recall Mokango last year picked around the same spot. First round pick next year should not be in top half of draft. Miller is expendable as Dream still have one left.
True, Harding is not a good shooter, but she can score and should create opportunities for others.
Dream should be favorites in the East.

I think there are 3 good teams in the East that will battle to the end for the top spot, just like last year. It will be very difficult to say that Atlanta will be the favorite. But they did up their bid for it. Other teams in the East to watch: Connecticut (they got Kalana Greene this year to go along with the other UConn stars. It's only a matter of time when they'll get Maya Moore) Indiana (the entire state is so desperate for some form of basketball championship apart from when Skylar Diggins was in HS. I mean, look at the Pacers in their last NBA finals, The Fever in 2009, Butler men the last 2 years, Notre Dame Women.) The question mark team (i.e. the team that's I'm unsure of) will be Chicago, so they may be a dark horse this season. So, let's get ready to Rumble this season!!!!

Indiana is a veteran team; agree they are a contender. I'd put NY in there as the third team. Not a big improvement by way of the draft, but they have Cappie Pondexter. I think Chicago falls to the bottom. Their forwards are suspect - Catherine Kraayeveld, Mistie Bass and Tamera Young.

I don't have much confidence in NY keeping Pondexter too long, perhaps start the season with them, but not finish there. Her offseason commenting may have damaged her image, and NY may not want to tolerate that for a long while. If they "release" her, that would be a major loss for them, though. I really like her as a player, but professional sports is also about image. So, it'll be interesting to see what NY does with her. Plus, they have a new coach, so it'll take time for the team to adjust to their new coach. Chicago's primary problems were internal and not player-based. The administration had operation issues that they've recently tried to correct. Acquiring Pokey Chatman as their HC/GM was a major step forward in correcting some of their problems. Also, they had a very nice group of draftees of point guards, shooters, and inside big bodies that can make them compete. I would predict that Chicago will make the playoffs this season, the first time in franchise history.

athletes make stupid and offensive statements on a daily basis.... teams aren't going to cut their own throats by getting rid of franchise players for a reason as trivial as that... it's what they pay pr's for.... especially in an era where you can go to three days of rehab and all is forgiven.... the public's attention span is about a minute and a half.... cappie isn't going anywhere.... and ny is a city where the only bad publicity is no publicity....
