why can't we make two passes? we need gene hackman from hoosiers to start benching people when we don't make three passes before we shoot.

I played for several years with a big that had slow reaction times just like Katie. The coaches could help out the situation by teaching the guards not to whip it in there expecting her to catch it like you might a Leslie or a Candace Dupree. She isn't a gazelle she is a take up space and post up strong player. A bounce pass every now an then would do wonders. That high lob is an okay pass, but not if you come down refuse to swing the ball on offense stare right at her then pass it. My 12-year old team can see that coming.

I do like Becky - she's been my favorite player in the W for a few years now. Great passer in a pure point guard sense and can also put up 20 points a game - from anywhere. She's got some of the quickest defensive hands I've seen and is as close to an unselfish player as I've seen.

I had another follow-up thought. Young started the game with Hammon guarding her. That's an easy 4" difference...why in the world would you not try to run some isolation plays or post plays so that Young could take advantage of the mismatch?? Granted Hammon has got some of the quickest hands in the league and would have made it tougher - but that kind of height advantage needs to be exploited.

if it were me...i would have pulled Lennox she was not "on" last night and when she isn't "on" she is detrimental to the team. Mann, Young, Lovelace, Latta and Little might be interesting for a change.

I agree with what you guys are saying - I have been bewildered by the player combinations this year. Last night was a great example: Starting Mann and then benching her quickly in the first quarter (for no apparant reason); continuing to play Lennox when she was not producing, turning it over, and being bull-headed with the ball; no consistency for Lacy - she didn't have any time to get into a good flow; running that d@*n high post screen offense that DOES NOT WORK; not forcing/teaching her guards how to make an effective entry pass; changing up the defense so that the other team gets different looks; not benching players who refuse to follow their shot and miss easy offensive rebounds - or just being too lazy to block out and hit boards all around.
There are defintely chemistry issues that aren't being helped with the inconsistent personnel changes but there are also some Bball 101 things that are unacceptable for pro players.

But did you see TY grimacing and holding her right knee as she walked off at the end of the game last night? I was wondering if she tweaked it a little with all the sky-high rebounding she was doing.

TY or Izzy would be my choices, I don't see Betty or Ivory shutting her down. So far this season I haven't been "awed" by Betty's defence, it seems like she's always a step behind. And, no one on our team seems to be overly worried with the other's team's scorers catching the ball...I would love it if some did step up and deny anyone the ball. I've seen a whole lot of let them catch it and try to defend 1-on-1. That doesn't really work with someone line Becky who can take you off the dribble and then pass as well.
